Help getting snakes out of my house?
Q. SOOO last night I was sweeping my kitchen so I could mop and I ended up sweeping a 6 inch Texas blind snake into the middle of my kitchen floor. I am deathly afraid of any kind of snake. I don't care how small they are. I freaked. Jumped over it and stayed into my room until my brother could get it out of the house. Well then my brother told me that this wasn't the first one. He had seen one a few weeks ago but didn't tell me about it because he knew I would freak just as I am now. I know snakes keep away bugs and stuff... but to be honest I would rather have their food than them. So with that being said I need them out. I live in an apartment complex and I'm pretty sure maintenance wont care. I'm still going to call anyways. I heard cats… [cont.]

A. Call maintenance and report the problem. They will need to contact an exterminator who will come out and inspect. An exterminator will know where and how they are entering the apartment. In the meantime, place moth balls in the closets, dark corners, anywhere you think a snake might enter. They do not like the smell. Ask your brother to do this if you are afraid to get into those dark corners.

A. You need to be brave. Blind snakes are absolutely no harm whatsoever. If you see one, call your brother and have him remove it. OUTSIDE. Even though you have no problem living with rats and mice that invade your home and spread disease, think about the neighbors. Snakes are crucial. Be brave, hon, he is no threat to you. I would never advise killing a snake unless it was venemous and that is only a last resort.
